Calgary Transit Sucks!

C-Train Blues | 01/08/2010

As my northbound train pulled into the downtown core this morning, I listened to the announcement made over the intercom – “…the 4th Street station is closed.  Please get off the train at either Seventh Street or Oneth Street.”

“Oneth”?

Ah, well – there are enough issues with CT to fill a book; I’m not going to worry about drivers’ reading skills.

However, it reminds me of the issue I noticed last summer with the closure of the 3rd Street station (which is the perfect one for me going home).

CT doesn’t change the line maps in the trains when they close stations!  So the maps are simply, incorrect during the closed times.

Through July (Stampede time), when THOUSANDS of visitors hit the city, and many stay in downtown hotels close to Stampede Park, they are forced to deal with the inaccuracy of the transit maps.

I observed many visitors who had to walk several blocks further than necessary, because there was no indication that ‘the next stop’ was closed – the drivers certainly weren’t announcing it then.

I guess CT finally learned SOMETHING from customer complaints, and are announcing the changes now…  but will it last?   Doubtful, because, as we know, CT Sucks…
